If you are new to the concept of a bat house, you are probably thinking, "Why would I want bats, let alone get bat house plans?"
That's a good question. After all, bats have a pretty bad rap. All of those movies show bats as being evil (except for Batman and he's not really a bat), the reports of people getting rabies from bat bites. Don't they suck your blood?
All kidding aside, there is a reason why you should want to learn how to build a bat house.
Here's the truth - Bats are awesome!
Bats are a natural and extremely effective means for controlling insect populations. Some bats are able to eat up to half of their body weight in insects per night. Think about how many mosquitoes it would take to weigh as much as half a bat!
This is the reason for building a bat house. By providing the right conditions for bats, you can create a backyard free of annoying insects while avoiding pesticide use.
